Lifetime Trashes Another Biopic :(

Tonight, Lifetime premiered the Toni Braxton: Unbreak my Heart and it was SOMETHING else! Us 80's and 90’s babies know real R&B and Toni Braxton is one of those reasons. Toni Braxton oozed sexy to me as a kid. Yea, I knew what sexy was & I knew I wanted to be that, lol! Toni, along with Babyface, gave us amazing music in the 90’s. Un-Break My Heart was the chart – topper that pushed Toni Braxton to be the breakout soultress that she is. But she also had a bankruptcy that followed shortly after.

LifeTime was able to capture her 2 bankruptcies (YES, 2), plus so many other events in Toni Braxton’s life, in a matter of 2 hours. But in my opinion, the movie was trash. That vocal queen could’ve done so much better with producing her own movie. I mean, how do you fuck up your own life story?! But here she goes again trying to help the people under her *side-eyes LifeTime*. I will say Debbie Morgan killed the part of Ms. Evelyn Braxton. But we knew that was going to happen. Ya’ll know she played in those stories our Grandmas and Mamas liked to watch back in the day. She also played in Roots too.

Toni, was played by Lex Scott Davis. I didn't think she looked like Toni Braxton at all. The only characters that looked somewhat liked who they were suppose to be was Evelyn Braxton, Papa Braxton, Tamar & Towanda's pigtails. And I must say, Tiffany Hines played the hell out of Tamar with all the extra animation. Pebbles made another appearance, and that’s when we all knew Toni’s money was already gone. It was also crazy how they paid Toni her money back but she had to be hush mouthed about it. My petty ass, would’ve been throwing slick shots for YEARS!!!

Overall, the movie was interesting and entertaining, especially with the help of #BlackTwitter. I just honestly feel that LifeTime needs to give it up when it comes to doing biopics. Let's give biopics over to another network cause I'll be pissed if they mess up a Beyonce biopic. I need for Ava DuVernay or Shonda Rhimes to deliver us that masterpiece. Shonda just might be best since she love herself some scandal! PrettyStoner OUT!!!
